Migraine Relief

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Anyone that knows me knows that I have suffered with migraines since I was a teenager.. which I gratefully thank my maternal grandfather for being so kind as to let me inherit this from him :) I have been on numerous medications for it throughout the last 40 years or so.. some have given me relief but nasty side effects, others worked about as well as the glass of water I had taken with it. But about 10 years or so ago I came across this other product that has worked like magic. I went from a migraine at least once a week that lasted a day or two and about once a month or so I had one that lasted several days with nausea and major sensitivities to light and noise.

Since taking these, I now only get them maybe 1-2 times a month and a really bad one maybe every 3-4 months. I have never gotten any side effects from them. They work as a preventative measure. A couple of times I have thought that I can do without taking the tablets and within a month the migraines are back in full swing.

Now I am not saying that this will work for everyone but it works for me.

Chicken Chicken what's for Dinner?

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

I know I haven't posted in a while but you know I was tied up being Facebook's running Olympic commentator hehehehe. I came across this site (Thanks Kim) and I love it! Although I either buy smaller chickens then the author suggests or we eat too much as I usually get only 3 meals from one. But I will try it and measure more carefully and will keep you all posted on how it works out!!

Popcorn Poppers

Saturday, January 2, 2010

As I was making my 3rd batch of popcorn tonight resulting in an activity filled with futility..I decided to do some research. We stopped using microwavable popcorn a LONG time ago because of the chemicals in the so called butter and usually just popped in on the stove top with oil. But I am concerned with the amount of oil and have just been using a hot air popper. But lately for some reason  over half of the kernels go unpopped. I kept thinking the corn was too old, I used too much in the popper, etc etc but no matter what I tried with different brands it kept giving me the same results.

So I did some researching on popcorn poppers and here are this poster's results.

Butter anyone?

Punch recipe

Sunday, December 13, 2009

With the holiday season upon us I thought there might be some of my readers looking for a large batch of punch recipe. I used to use this all the time when I lived in Sask and had my catering. It maks 129 - 8oz glasses

7-48 oz orange juice
1-24oz lemon juice
2 whole oranges and lemons
4-48 oz of pineapple juice
10-24oz ginger ale
10-24oz soda water
2 cups berry sugar
Mix altogether and serve. Make sure the sugar is well dissolved

If you need a smaller amount to serve here is a smaller version . This serves 60-8oz glasses

3-48oz orange juice
12oz lemon juice
1 whole orange and lemon
2-48oz pineapple juice
5-24oz gingerale
5-24oz club soda
1 cup berry sugar

Both recipes you slice the fruit to float in a punch bowl

Are you a fan of peanut butter??

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Here are the results of a taste test for peanut butter. I have to admit other then Skippy and Jif I had never heard of the others. But with the comments at the bottom of the article saying that once your stir the natural PB once and refrigerate it, it doesn't separate. My problem with refrigeration... one more jar in there :( And it tends to break your toast as you spread it getting PB on everything on the toast and even worse on regular bread.. but am willing to try them.
